Helen Mary Pope (Jackson)

This site remembers Helen Pope (Jackson), who was born in Ruislip, Middlesex on August 11, 1948. Helen and Claire Jackson were twins. Helen was the dominant twin - a brilliant character with an acerbic wit and a superb sense of humour.  She was a gifted artist and writer.  With serious disabilities she advertised in Private Eye for a male companion!  144 suitors contacted her and, having eliminated the suitors who couldn't spell, she fell in love with the finest of these men.  Helen and her husband were happily married for the rest of her life.  Glimmers of her humour stayed with her throughout the downward course of her disease. She died in hospital at the age of 41.

Through research it's now possible that one day others won't have to endure this disease.
